New Windows in the District

In June 2007 Dr. Levitt started to look for a contractor that would be able to replace several of the windows in his Washington DC residence. After searching for a specific brand, Certainteed, through the Internet he found American Custom Contractors' website. He explained to our staff that he had some wood windows that needed to be replaced, and he was interested in replacing six of the windows in his home initially. Demetri met with Dr. Levitt to perform an inspection on the existing windows and make recommendations for replacement that would maintain the integrity of his historic residence, while improving energy efficiency and longevity.

Dr. Levitt was so pleased with the installation of the initial six windows, he called on American Custom Contractors to provide a quote for the installation of the additional seven windows in his home, as well as the possible replacement of his roof system. After completing an exterior inspection and interior attic evaluation, Demetri confirmed that the roof was beyond its serviceable life. The decking was rotted and the ventilation system was not appropriate to either the type of roof system or the shape of the roof and there were several layers of previously installed roofing products.

Demetri presented several replacement options and Dr. Levitt decided to proceed with a Certainteed Hatteras sloped roof and a Certainteed Flintlastic 2-ply flat roof system for his residence. During the course of the installation American Custom Contractors Project Managers noted the need to replace a significant portion of the decking before applying the new roof system. Although this replacement slowed the progress of the job and was at an additional cost it allowed the warranty for both of the roofing products he chose to remain valid, in addition to improving the overall performance and longevity of his new roof system.

We are also pleased to report that he has also chosen American Custom Contractors as his trusted contractor for replacement of his gutter and downspout system, installation of new gutter screens and installation of Azek trim for his home.
